Theofan Sokerov


Born on May 3, 1943 in Lovech, he graduated from the Nikolay Pavlovich Art Institute in 1969. He works as a freelance artist and is the chairman of the Union of Artists in Lovech (1971–1982). Since 1994 he has been a professor of painting at the National Academy of Arts. He is the author of numerous solo exhibitions and significant monumental works, including the murals in the Patriarchal Church in Tsarevets and the artistic design of important buildings in Bulgaria. His paintings are in museums and collections in Bulgaria and abroad. He is the winner of numerous awards, including the Vladimir Dimitrov-Master Award (1979, 1982), the Zahari Zograf National Painting Award (1987) and has been an honorary citizen of Lovech since 2003.
