Sammy Bigerano
Sami Bijerano – Sabin (1920, Yambol) is a Bulgarian painter, graphic artist and applied artist, an innovator in spatial design and a founder of design in Bulgaria. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in Sofia (classes of Nikola Marinov, Dechko Uzunov and Ivan Penkov).
After World War II, he designed a number of international exhibitions, fairs and museums, for which he received first prizes in Prague (after 1945) and Vienna (1951). He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Architects and the Union of Architects in Bulgaria.
In 1966 he settled in Israel, where he devoted himself to painting with biblical themes, folklore motifs and erotic-poeticized images of women. He is distinguished by decorative flat stylization and theatrical compositional elements, a legacy from his academic teachers.
His style combines painting, pastel, graphics and monumental applications, and the woman is elevated as a symbol of beauty and intimacy.
