Petar Urumov

Born on January 30, 1895 in Sofia. He graduated from the Art and Industrial School with Prof. Ivan Mrkvichka in 1919. In 1927 he graduated from the same higher education institution again (which was now called the Academy of Arts), but this time with Prof. Tseno Todorov. Thus he became the first Bulgarian artist to graduate from the academy twice. He became a member of the Society of Independent Artists and participated in almost all of its exhibitions. He also presented his works at the OHI (general art exhibitions).
In the period 1935-1945 he worked in Hungary. Many of his paintings from this period remained there and were not described. After that he returned home and remained in Sofia for the rest of his life.
He works in the field of landscape, domestic composition, still life and portrait. His paintings are characterized by expressiveness and strength, large masks and realistic reproduction. One of the best Bulgarian landscape painters.
