Konstantin Tringov

Konstantin Tringov was born on May 7, 1907 in the town of Kazanlak. He grew up in a guild family. Even in his early childhood years, he became interested in drawing. His drawing teacher Stanyo Stamatov was the first to notice his talents. Later, as a student in junior high school, Tringov began to work with watercolors and oil paints based on direct observation of nature. The populated landscape, which became the main theme for his future paintings, attracted him from an early age.
One of the most important factors in Tringov's ideological growth was his contact with Dimitar Chorbadzhiyski - Chudomir, the new drawing teacher, already a prominent artist and writer. He encouraged the young artist and supported his idea to study painting at the Academy of Arts in Sofia. His father, Mircho Tringov, however, did not agree with these intentions. He considered art an uncertain profession and wanted his son to become a merchant. For this purpose, in 1929 he sent him to Sofia to study at the Free University of Political and Economic Sciences, today the UNWE. However, Konstantin enrolled as a student at the Academy of Arts at the same time. His father's illness in 1929 forced the young man to temporarily interrupt his education. After that, he took on his own support and graduated from the Academy of Arts with Prof. Tseno Todorov and Prof. Nikola Ganushev. He has had both solo exhibitions and participated in collective exhibitions in Bulgaria, as well as in Moscow, Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Prague, Athens, etc.
He was awarded the Order of Cyril and Methodius, 1st degree, in 1968.
