Assa beams


Grady Assa (born 29 January 1954, Pleven) is a Bulgarian artist and teacher. He graduated in mural painting from the University of Veliko Tarnovo in 1981. He was the vice-rector of the Academy of Arts and director of the 13 Centuries Bulgaria Foundation. He is currently a professor and head of the Fashion Department.

He was a co-founder of the avant-garde group "The City" (1986–1989). He works in the field of painting - landscapes, figurative compositions, abstractions, with an emphasis on symbolism and color expression.

He has had over 80 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad (Europe, USA, Asia). His paintings are in prestigious international museums and collections.

In 2014, he received the Golden Age Order for his contribution to culture.
