Georgi Chapkanov - Chapa

Georgi Chapkanov (born 1943, Valchi Dol) is a Bulgarian sculptor, a graduate of the Academy of Arts in Sofia. Professor and head of a department there. He is the author of the Statue of Sofia and co-author of the coat of arms of Bulgaria (1997).

His works are exhibited in prestigious museums in Russia, Japan, Switzerland, etc. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Grand Prix in Paris (2002) and the Order of St. Cyril and Methodius (2015).

In 2020, the book "And Chapa Created the World" dedicated to his life was published.
