Dimitar Kazakov - Nero

Dimitar Kazakov (also known as Nero) was born on June 22, 1933 in the village of Tsarski Izvor, Veliko Tarnovo region. In 1965, he graduated from the Academy of Arts with a degree in Graphics under Professor Evtim Tomov. After 1978, he quit his job and became a freelance artist, devoting all his time to art. He paints constantly and everywhere. His whole heart, thought and energy are dedicated to art – he lives and breathes through it.
In 1981, Dimitar Kazakov abandoned painting due to the severe allergy he developed to oil paints. However, he never thought for a moment about giving up painting. He almost immediately replaced them with acrylic and watercolor paints. He also mastered the subtleties of sculpture and woodcarving. During his 59-year life, Dimitar Kazakov bequeathed to Bulgarian art over 15,000 paintings, watercolors, graphics, drawings, sculptures, as well as painted ceramics, and his paintings are among the most valued. He held dozens of exhibitions in the most prestigious galleries in New York, Paris, Madrid, Vienna, Tokyo, Toronto, Athens, Basel, Luxembourg. Works by Nero are owned by the National Fund for Contemporary Art in the Louvre, Paris, in the A. S. Pushkin Museum, Moscow, and in the Imperial Collection in Tokyo.

He died in 1992.
