Boy Uzunov
Dechko Uzunov was born in Kazanlak in 1899 and was a student of Chudomir. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in 1924, after which he specialized in Munich. He taught at the Academy from 1932 to 1963, and his students included famous artists such as Svetlin Rusev and Lika Yanko. Uzunov participated in many exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad, including Belgrade, Paris and Moscow, and held six solo exhibitions in Bulgaria.
He is the founder of the "Native Art" society and has made significant social contributions. In 1966 he became a member of parliament, and in 1973 he was elected an honorary member of the Mexican Academy of Arts. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Order of the People's Republic of Bulgaria and the Dimitrov Award.
Dechko Uzunov left behind a great artistic legacy, including painting, graphics, scenography and murals in public buildings. His memory is preserved in two house museums in Sofia and Kazanlak, as well as with the renaming of the Kazanlak Art High School.
